Every first choice, and how it finished.
Each race, our first choice is filed before post and checked against the official order of finish. Winners and misses stay on the list at the same size. Nothing comes off.
One mark for every race
- Won
- 2nd or 3rd
- Out of the top three
- Not counted
How the record compares
A winner rate means little alone. Here it sits beside the morning-line favourite, the track’s own pre-race choice, on exactly the same races, and beside what picking at random would give.
Where our first choice finished
Has it held up as the list grew?
- Our first choice
- Morning-line favourite
Where it does better, and where it doesn’t
The same record split by track, surface and distance, each beside the morning-line favourite on the same races.
The full list
Newest day first. Open any day to see each race: our first choice, the estimate and morning line we published, where it finished, who won, and when we filed it.
How this list is kept
The same rules for every race, written down before the results come in.
Filed before post
Each first choice shows the time we filed it. If we change it before post, usually after a scratch, the last one filed before post counts and the row shows the change. Nothing filed at or after post counts.
The official order
We use the order of finish the stewards make official. When that differs from the order at the line, the row says so.
Scratches
If our first choice is scratched, the race stays on the list marked Not counted and comes out of every rate.
Dead heats
A dead heat for the win counts as a win, and the row names both horses.
The morning line
The track’s pre-race estimate, set by the track before the race. It is a fair yardstick because it is published for the same races, before anyone knows the result. It is an estimate, not a price.
Nothing comes off
A correction is shown as a correction, on the row, with its date. Rows are never removed.
